Some changes

Postby EdT. on Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:42 pm

Hi all.

As some have already noticed, we've been busy implementing some changes that have been in the works for some time now. This includes changes in everything from the way the individual forums are moderated to the way the site is administered. All these changes have been given considerable thought and much effort has gone into designing them so as to benefit the membership as a whole.

I appreciate your cooperation and patience during this transitional period.

Some quick Q&As:

Q: Are you leaving the forum?
A: Yes & No. Due to personal reasons, I will not have as much time as I'd like to dedicate to the forums. Fortunately we were able to tap a dedicated member to take over in my absence. I still hope to be able to check in occasionally.

Q: Who will be taking over?
A: Fred has been promoted to Site Admin and has my full confidence and authority. Please remember that all the mods and behind the scene guys here are unpaid volunteers and expend a great deal of time and effort to keep things running smoothly. Site Administration is a deceptively time (and soul) consuming task. Please welcome Fred into his new position and give him any help he needs to make this transition.

Q: What other changes are coming down the pike?
A: We are changing to a new moderation model of section moderators (each forum will have a separate mod or mods) as well as changing the focus of the individual forums to make for a more enjoyable and on-topic experience for everyone. And many, many more.

That's about it for now, but I'd just like to thank all the mods who have worked so hard to get us to this point and even more importantly, to thank all the users who have contributed (and continue to contribute) their positive discussions and energy to the forums. :clapping:
