Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I've been Vaughn wishing and heating and Vaughn wishing and heating and Vaughn wishing and heating and the finial finally came off a little while ago. I've always liked the adage of "don't force it, just use a bigger hammer". I modified slightly that by buying a bigger impact wrench instead of a bigger hammer but I still think it must have been the wishing. Thanks again guys!
