I know that overseas the symbols / Man & Man ped signals rule the roost. However some countries had / have worded ped signals. Here are the few that I know of... Can anyone add any other places to this list????

Mexico - PASE (Walk) / NO PASE (dont walk)
Italy AVANTI (Walk) / ALT (Dont Walk)

I believe Ampelfreund has some pics of some German worded lenses as well...

See this page for a couple masks that he has in German...not sure if they had a "walk" equivalent as well though.

Cool! Now I wish I knew German.

Also I forgot to mention that Paris France had ped signals that said PIETONS (pedestrians), and would light either ATTENDEZ (Wait) or ALLEZ (Go)

I am aware of only the Italian version. Below, is a really nice example of an old Italian pedestrian signal (looks like it is neon to me) that uses those signal indications of "AVANTI" and "ALT."

no neon inside only lightbulbs :)

I suspected it was that source, since I saw ventilation strips on one side the actual housing itself. I notice that some housings that used neon as an illumination source had them.

Also, I am not sure if this might be significant, but if you look at "ALT," you could make out perfectly straight lines that are behind the letters (and perhaps the actual lens as well), which I think those are the neon tubes that illuminate the signal indication. I notice that characteristic in the old bulky Winko-Matic neon pedestrian signals, and I am sure it could be viewed in others that use lenses as well.

Interesting set-up. I presume what you have is the same kind as in the picture I provided? If so, then what company manufactured it? Just curious. Looks pretty nice in my opinion.
