More Darley work..

Postby coyttl on Mon Aug 12, 2013 5:07 pm

Since everyone else was working on their Darleys, I decided to take mine apart.

..Not really, but since the girl thought the Darley was the neatest light, I was forced to start working on it.

It's off getting stripped/soaked, and while I was in "hurry up and wait" mode, I thought I'd ask some questions about the reflectors..

These buggers:

They look and feel like the cheapest possible way to make a reflector. How are they best cleaned without making them duller? How common are these? (As you can see, I have at least one with a fancy bullet-hole in it!)

I used some "Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish" on part of this one, and it seemed to work pretty well.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll look into that.

Does anyone have a good (head-on preferred) shot of a Darley with a light lit up - that uses these reflectors? I'm curious as to the light output. :)

Thanks!

That uses those dish-looking reflectors? Really? I didn't expect those to put that much light out. Wow..!

The light in that video has the other style reflectors, (not restored) and 60 watt bulbs.

interesting!
I see yours are screwed to the wall! As far as I can tell, mine were pressed in by the doors. Which one's older/newer?
