1937 Mlps signal

Postby Karlson on Tue Apr 02, 2013 1:34 pm

We just purchased this traffic signal. 8" square and 5 ft high. 110 motor (forward and reverse) hooked to a transmission (reduction) that allows the cyclinder to rotate 90 degrees and then back. We would like to make it work. What kind of switching would we need? We have found pictures from 1937 and 1940 from Minneapolis historical. There are bulbs on the inside to light up "stop" and "go". Ican be reached at 715-268-2505. Thanks min advance. Larry

First off, welcome to the forums.

It sounds like you have something really nice in your possession. Do you pictures of it? I'm sure some of us would like to see what exactly this is. :good:

Here is the only image I have. We have taken it apart to get electrical working.

The picture is right below the Anoka Drug Sign and by the little Coke cooler. The picture does not show up on the initial page.

Took a bit of work to eventually find that photo, but WOW!! That thing's AWESOME!!! :clapping:

unfortunately, that's the only thing I can tell 'ya about it, and I bet 'ya probably already know that...sorry...

I'd sure love to see more of it -- any chance of any more shots (inside or out!) while you're working on it, or otherwise before it (apparently?) gets auctioned off to somebody or other's museum??? (or??) with all the rest of that gorgeous stuff in all the rest of those photos...?? :beg:
