Site developed on a Mac. Not a Mac thing.

Try Firefox as your browser... keep in mind Chrome is still officially a beta product

Our town is 5 blocks wide, and 2 miles long.... if someone does something here... we all know... so what could it have been?

Hmmm...probably a dumb thought. Vaughn's 'troubles' almost remind me of how my own machine wants to behave occasionally, when it's trying to use a super-sucky slow internet connection. (like hotel free-wireless systems for instance, or anything from comcast) :rob:

Vaughn, does your computer work OK otherwise when you stream live videos? (for instance)

I LOVE Onyx, big fan.

I deal with PC's and Mac's all day at work. I have a Mac Pro at work and they let me take a Macbook Pro home. At home though, my main machine is a custom built Intel i7 water cooled gaming machine.

Anyway, enough gloating, hehe. It's most definitely your machine unforunately. To repair your permissions, go to Finder, Applications, Utilities and open Disk Utility. Click on your hard drive in the left side (normally labeled "Macintosh HD", and on the right make sure the "First Aid" tab is selected and click "Repair Permissions". I always reboot just for kicks, but that will probably fix your issue. Also make sure they updated all of your system software (so it catches Java). Go to the Apple menu and click "Software Update..."

BigTbird also has a very valid point, a bad internet connection can also do weird things.

Good luck,

A buddy of mine bought a house there 6 years ago and I moved in. I updated the bath, kitchen, windows and painted the inside and he sold it. I just fixed it up for him to flip it.
Thanks Mike,
I gave that a try and it's still the same. I guess it's slow internet ( I'd put in a scrath head smiley here but don't see them today ). I really don't know what's left to do. I'll have to just feel lucky the days the smileys are back, sorta like finding that one light you've been in search of. I appreciate all the help you guys have gave me, thank you.
I came up with a back up plan for the smileys. Everytime I want to add a smiley I'll just put this picture in.

Ok, I'm now able to reproduce the error. This has been a bug for a LONG time here, but it is happening more and more often recently.

What was happening, I am going to guess, is you were clicking on a link in your email to get to the message, right? Well... looks like the forum software is not happy, sometimes it sends out the right link:
http://forums.signaltraffic.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11502&p=147712&e=147712

Sometimes it goof's:
http://www.forums.signaltraffic.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=11502&p=147712&e=147712

The only difference between the two links is the "bad" one has www. in it... this screws the CSS and kills the background image, smiles, colors, and makes the site look bad. Deleting "www." from the url bar corrects the issue, and now smiles, colors, and background images are back!

Matt, can you forward me one of the emails that has the "www" prefix in the link?
