4-way traffic signals in Alabama webpage

Postby Canuck_in_TX on Wed Jun 26, 2013 11:19 pm

Came across this page online showing 4-way traffic signals in Alabama. Not sure if this belongs to someone who is a member here or not.

A cop pulled me over and said, "Papers..." So I replied, "Scissors! I win!" and drove off.

Seeing a MLP fan-pic on a page about 4-ways doesn't sit right with me

What's wrong with someone posting pics of 4 ways in their town? I think there are some pretty cool pics in that link!! Many citys still are apparently using the fixed four way signal!

If he isn't a member here...seems to me like somebody should invite him??!!  :good:

if nothing else, so maybe we'll find out the story behind his 2 section Durasig with the "15" ped section attached atop it...what's up with THAT thing??

Yep, I am a member here. I am the editor and publisher of Geek Alabama. I cover local events and talk about geeky and nerdy stuff. Glad you like my classic 4-way traffic light pictures!

Nice page, but some close-ups would be cool too to see what the manufacturers are.

This is all I can do with the camera I have got. Eventually I will get a better camera with lens so I can take closer shots. ;)

My Geek Alabama header shows a variety of topics from MLP, Star Trek, Star Wars, football, Doctor Who, etc. You also see my personal logo and the Guy's Cuisine logo.

Speaking of traffic lights, here is video of a classic 4-way traffic light shot with a mechanical box in Hobson City Alabama at 6 am. Yes, there are stop signs wrapped in bags. Originally the stop signs were uncovered with the light operating!

Hello Nathan! I've been enjoying poking around your blog website, too!

Still wondering about that light on your 'about me' profile page. Now that I've looked closer and realize its a 3-section Durasig, I'm curious about what looks like a 9" ped on top of it, with that "15" lens. (is it attached to the Durasig, or just sitting there??)

I've never seen anything like that before -- can you tell us any more about it?

:hello:  :good:

Love the pictures, Nathan! Reminds me of my hometown back before they did the "big upgrade" in the mid-1990s. Lots of Eagle and Crouse-Hinds 4 ways back then! Although those intersections with three 4-ways are fairly unique, I have not seen that anywhere else...anyone else want to chime in on that?

Also gotta love the video of that lonely 4-way with the Eagle mechanical controller (most likely an EF-20) running that empty intersection!
