Found some incandescent double beacons closer to home today

Postby freebrickproductions on Sun Sep 01, 2013 7:33 pm

I was heading down to my grandparents lake house today when I saw these and noticed they were still incandescent! So on the way back up to my house, I asked my grandparents to let me gets some pictures of these signals, so they pulled over into a near-by gas station parking lot and let me get some photos and videos of the signals. The yellow double beacons both had the top lights burnt out, which isn't something that happens everyday. These are located at US 431 and Simpson Point Road in Marshall County, AL, if anyone is curious.

I wasn't too surprised to see an electronic controller for the signals, but I was somewhat surprised to find an abandoned mechanical controller at the intersection.

I am a railfan, signalfan, and I'm interested in tornado sirens. I hope to learn new things about traffic lights because I'm interested in them and don't know much about them.

Is the abandoned cabinet at the very same intersection?

Abandoned cabinet looks like it was a flasher, that's an old Eagle flasher cabinet.

BUT... now that you've ever so kindly shown us all exactly where it is, and that there's apparently no longer any utility power connected to it...

...I wonder how long it might take it to "disappear without a trace"...??

Just so you know, the first division of the Alabama DOT is a few miles down US 431. I think they might notice that it's gone when they replace the light bulbs eventually.
Spoiler:
And then proceed to not care about it.
