Mini Traffic Signs Collectors?

Postby FlawedCoil82 on Sun Aug 25, 2013 3:51 pm

I was wanting to know if any other members on here collect the miniature screen-printed metal traffic signs from http://www.minitrafficsigns.com? I just started collecting them and I am loving the ones I got so far! The only sign I had a problem with was the stop sign because the font was too small from the client pics on his website, but after I requested it be changed, the guy who makes them made a new stop sign and now it looks so much better (a picture of the new one can be found on a certain auction site that got my last thread deleted so apparently I can't post a link to it....if that's still a problem then please let me know and I can try to post a picture of it by uploading it somewhere else). At any rate, I know they aren't real but I am still really excited to start building my collection of these because it gives me a chance to own a bunch of signs that I could never afford otherwise (or have the space for). I'll update this as I get more, but the ones I have collected so far are:

Do Not Enter
Yield
No Parking
Stop
Curves Ahead
Hill (Truck)
No Passing Zone
Slow Children At Play
Speed Limit (70 and 25)
No Parking Any Time
Rest Area
Road Closed
Wrong Way
Slow
Dead End

Does anyone else on this forum happen to collect these signs also? And if so, which ones have you all gotten? And has anyone gotten any of the "reflective" ones yet? I am still on the fence as to if I want to get that circular RR Crossing Ahead sign or not.

I have a small traffic light ahead sign (picture of a signal on it). I believe I got it from eBay and not the site you link to. I don't collect the mini signs, I just got this one because it fits nicely on the door to my basement. A real one would have been too big.

I have seen mini signs being used along bike and jogging/walking paths that intersect with roads and I remember seeing them in a park upstate that catered to snowmobiles and mini signs were also in use there again where the trails intersected with roads and pedestrian paths.
Moderately inspirational message.

Awesome Jerry! If you got it from Ebay then more than likely, it is from the same guy. He sells them through his website, Ebay and Etsy. Apart from that, he relies on word of mouth only for people to find out about them. I found his website purely by accident. But I truly wish these would have existed when I was a kid. I do have a few 18" inch signs that a traffic sign company specially made for me and one of them I got is a Signal Ahead sign (High Intensity Reflective sheeting too!) so there are some places out there that will specially make them for you. It would easily fit on my door. BTW, I've been to your website many times before. You have an awesome signal collection! ;) I plan to get one of your dvds eventually too (if they are still available).

3liteguy, I believe the signs you are referring to are "Trail Signs". They are still reflective using Engineer Grade reflective sheeting and are placed along bike paths and such. We have some on the bike trail around here. They are pretty awesome but they are also pricey (at least for my budget) and not a whole lot of variety exists (apart from the "staple" signs like Stop, Yield, Stop Ahead, RR Crossing, etc.). The signs from Jim are just screen printed signs onto .040 aluminum blanks and are not reflective (although he does have a very small selection of reflective signs). He told me his signs are most often bought for decorating childrens' rooms and driver's education classes. But unfortunately they are not legal to where they could be posted outdoors for official use since they are not reflective. They are more just a fun way to collect a lot of signs for not a lot of money. :P

I remember I once purchased a no right turn sign from EBay about three years ago or so. I had it for a while, and then I sold it on there, since I wasn't interested in it anymore.

As far as whom I purchased the sign from is concerned, I am not exactly sure. It was probably the same person.

Hmm, that much I don't know? He doesn't have a "No Right Turn" sign listed on his website, so if he makes them, I am not aware of it yet. I wouldn't mind a "No Left Turn" sign though.

18" seem to be a standard for Bike paths......

Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.
