It is on the median, but is at the height of the mast. Why? There is nothing blocking it, and it is not over a hill. It is a recent install.

I like that this also has a bracket on it for no reason.

My guess it was ordered wrong or it was a wrong shiptment and instead of waiting for a replacement they just used it. I have seen recently here they ordered or were sent Canadian ped lenses for just one ped head and they put them in backwards, can we say lazy.
Wish I knew what it was all about..
I guess not suppose to know......

Additional support, maybe. While the light looks to be an aluminum GTE, that backplate can't be doing it any favors.

(Only the Canadians on here will probably understand this one) :this:

Being that I grew up in the Detroit area and could get Canadian TV, I remember this, but I forget the name of the show. It was for kids. Something to do with a giant.

Yep, "The Friendly Giant", Jerry.
YouTube video with the intro - :42 mark after some classic promos.

Now you know why that traffic signal pole is so tall.
It came from the same neighborhood as The Friendly Giant.
A cop pulled me over and said, "Papers..." So I replied, "Scissors! I win!" and drove off.

I suspect it is also for letting motorists see the signals ahead when they are stuck behind a tall truck.
