Hello from Massachusetts

Postby jss2 on Thu Dec 27, 2012 9:08 am

Hello everyone,

I live in Maynard, MA, and work as a traffic engineer in the greater Boston area. My collection of signal equipment is currently just one 3-section, one-way signal head. A former co-worker of mine hooked it up to a timer from an older clothes dryer, and it works, but something the wiring is a little messed up, as the yellow and red signal indications come on at the same time (definitely not MUTCD compliant). Interestingly, there are a few older signals in the Boston area that have yellow and red come on at the same time, to indicate a pedestrian phase. These signals were installed prior to actual ped heads with the walk and don't walk indications.

While my personal collection is rather small at this point, with my work, I do a lot of signal design, traffic capacity analysis, and micro-simulation modeling. So I get a lot of exposure to different types of equipment.

I joined this forum mostly to see what other people have in their collections. I hope to get a few controllers in the near future to add to my signal head.

Thanks,
Jason

Welcome, I'm on the other side of the country in the signal maintenance side of things. Your avatar green band has a good one way progression.

Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Hey Jason,
Welcome.
If you just wanted to see other peoples collections I'd suggest strapping in for the ride. These guys have some cool lights and factory new to boot, you'll enjoy it.
