OK, I see now.

That is very COOL!!!
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

I like the idea personally, but as it's prettey much restricted to areas where cycle times are non-adjustable, I can't think of any places to use it over here. That's probably just because I'm accustomed to a place where I don't actually know of any fixed time signals, they're all VA, MOVA or in a SCOOT/UTC plan.

That's a pretty cool idea as long as it's a suggested speed and not a mandated one. I never did much like the idea of variable message signs being used for speed limits.

Why not? Jersey has had them for years on the turnpike. I alway thought it was a great way of reigning in the knuckleheads who have to try to zip thru crazy traffic conditions like foul weather.
Moderately inspirational message.

This was called a signal speed funnel, and it changed between all three sections on every signal cycle. It gave you the speed necessary to make the traffic light on the green. The problem is that most people didn't slow down to avoid stopping. The went at full speed until they got close to the red light, and then they stopped until the light turned green.

It was developed in the 1960s. The shown value was not a speed limit.
