TEECO 500 SIGNAL CONTROLLER

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

It is a 12 pin connector on mine. I count 9 wires, but it is hard to count accurately since they are bundled together. I saw 2 reds, 2 yellows, 2 greens, 2 whites and a black.

I find it hard to believe that a controller like this would be approved for street use without some type of conflict monitor.

I know the 2 Wires are for the flashing out puts. I am just curious what thw 2 extra Wires are for.....

The reset switch may have to do if the 2 Lights are on together??

I will have to look more closely at the controller when I get home. Additionally, I can't see the photos while I am here at work. The government computers block photo/file sharing websites so anything I can say about the controller right now would be solely by memory. Before I get too far into this, I am going to check the simple things, loose wires/connections, replace the fuse, etc., etc. I don't want to overlook something stupid simple.

Unless I bring it up on my cell phone... :phone:

How interesting to compare your controller to Jerry's! They're so similar but yet different in many little details -- I'd certainly guess yours is the "newer" of the two.

I saw Jerry's controller a few days ago, pictures anyway. I thought mine was newer too, but it is interesting to see the differences between them.

BigTbird1974 wrote:I agree, BTW, that the controller should cycle the lights whether or not the timeswitch motor runs -- the timeswitch just serves to kick the panel into night-flash mode. (probably via a relay inside at the other end of those two blue wires hooked to the Y1 and R2 connections?) The physical on/off lever on the timeswitch should still switch it anyway.

I still need to hook a light up to this and see if it does anything at all. I don't hear a thing when it is plugged in.

BigTbird1974 wrote:I've never seen what's inside one of those (though I would love to...?) :beg: but by listening to Jerry's in his video, there are obviously a few relays in there somewhere, probably controlled by some rather simple electronics in addition to the 'run' and 'reset' switches -- it shouldn't be difficult to figure out!

Can't wait to hear (and see, I hope!) more as you get it up and running!

I'll see what I can do.

What's with all the quotes in everyone's signatures?

I wonder if Phil's onto something here...maybe those two extra wires and the 'reset' button are part of some rudimentary circuit that kicks it into 'flash' in the event of two indications together...? (perhaps including the function of whatever relay "clicks" with the main street?? I've been curious why it does that then, too...)

Or in other words, a crude form of "conflict monitor"??

Ah, I get it. I wish I could figure out a way to make it display conflicting greens to see what would happen!

The wiring on mine is different. Mine does not have the two extra wires on the Y1 and R2, just on the greens. Mine does flash though.

This has been bugging me, so tonight I yanked the "Lights To Go" style controller out of my Singer 4 way and hooked it back up to my Teeco 500 and while it was cycling, I touched a wire to both green outputs...CLICK...FLASH! It does have some sort of conflict monitor that puts the signal into flash if conflicting greens are detected.

VEW-W-W-Y INTEWESTING!! :good:

Did the "reset" button then function (as labeled?) to resume the cycle??

and yours, Jerry, is the presumably older model, without those extra green and blue wires appearing on its terminal block...??

/me paging Magnetboy... John..., what's yours do?? :beg:

Spoiler:
OH, how I SO LOVE "obsolete technology"...I want one of these things, too!!!! :dizzy: :2Cool:

Does it have mechanical relays to switch the lamps? Early practice in analog electronic controllers was to interwire the relays to make opposing indications impossible (or at least unlikely).
