Stuck Kopp 27 lens options...

Postby SirMarbelot on Tue Mar 19, 2013 7:14 am

Hey all,

I want to remove a red (Kopp 27) lens from my Ruleta, but the tab screws are frozen in place. Since I only want to move the lens to the other side of the 4-way, I suppose I could simply leave the lens where it is and buy a matching lens for the other side. Is the method of getting the lens out so difficul that I ought to forget about extracting it and just get another lens?

If you are confused as to why I would want to move a lens within the same light, here's the explanation: The light is a 3-way with blank lens covers on one side, and I want to move the blanks to the opposite side with relation to the 90-degree entrance elbow on top - which is absolutely immovable.

Thanks,
Sir M

PS - If anyone has a red 27 lens available, please let me know. The embossing on the rim doesn't matter to me (RDL, #27, NO. 27, whatever).

leave the lense in and just move the blank. It seems they had lenses under the blanks anyways :Phil:

Yes, this came with lenses on all sides, though some greens were broken. I traded away one red, and now I need it again. :Phil:

Getting another lens does sound like the best way to go.

It was for a worthy cause. :) and...I didn;t realize this one was frozen - I just assumed I'd move it if I decided to change the configuration.

Funny thing is, I'm just going back to the original configuration. I changed it once because a green was busted so I moved things around to compensate. I actually have a replacement green in hand now.

Cool, I like to keep things the same config as they came off the street

Same here. The way I have it now, the blank side is facing away from the wire entrance side, which looks annoyingly backwards, as the wires have to hook around the front to feed into the elbow. :rob:

While you've probably got some serious trade bait in your lair, I've already been through the regret of letting a Ruleta go, and don't want to do that again. In fact, I think my collection may eventually whittle down to just a few items, to wit: the Ruleta, the LPS-20 ped, a controller, and a few signs.
