Green Amber NEMA Conflict

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

Does Nick know what type of "Controller" is in it.

And is it one that has the cabinet "Piggy-Backed" to another???

Larry what intersection is it? 16 mile and what?

16 Mile / Metro Pkwy and Mound has an Intelight 2070 controller with NEMA adapter controlling the intersection, in the existing Eagle NEMA cabinet.

The issue is not the controller, its the mercury switch which is probably original to the cabinet back when the EPIC140 was in there. Its strange to have back to back problems on the same stretch of road. I wonder if the age of the mercury switch coupled with our recent high heat/humidity are causing some of them to fail.

No it's the one SB just north of 16. The mid-mile(?) U-turn.

This one was def. storm related, IDK about the other one, it was in the AM, this one was PM.

99% sure that one has the same controller. Mound's controllers were upgraded from West Utica south to 8 mile. They're doing the same thing on Schoenherr now.

Possibly storm related just strange how it affected the same part of the cabinet giving the same type of flashing/solid indications.

The cabinet in the photo looks like it has a EPAC back panel. It has the extra terminal strip the EPIC panels don't have. Also, A and B cables are plugging directly into the 2070 adapter (no conversion cables). Macomb County seems to have went with EPAC's early on then most other counties in Michigan.

Much of Macomb County was EPIC until recently with a few EPACs scattered about for more complex actuated intersections. Most of the intersections got Intelight or Siemens 2070 controllers.

I wondered if they popped a new backpanel in cabinets originally operating EPIC140s. I think I remember hearing that the county (or state?) made converter units that went from EF140 to NEMA

EPIC also had a NEMA A and B option in place of the EF140 connectors.

IIRC, Macomb County was using D4 software on their 2070 controllers...it's possible that D4 could have re-mapped the I/O on the A and B harnesses through their software in order to make it hook up to an existing EPIC panel as well. Other companies could do the same either way -- Econolite does with the ASC/3 line.

NYS DOT's 2070s have an option to use the C-1 or NEMA connections.
