I remember seeing them active years ago. The controller for the vehicle signals would pre-empt and dwell in red for the crossing, and the intersection 200 feet past would flash red.

The tracks go north a few miles and then dead end at what once was a Visteon plant. The plant's now gone and there is concern the land it was on is toxic....
That's sad looking.
I'd love to get my hands in there and get them back up and operations. Even without any trains. :)
Those stoplights are red - do they still cycle, even though the crossing's no longer used? What do they cycle for?
Yes they still cycle. The signals up the road and the nearside ones at the crossing operate on the same controller...at the time it was an EPIC 140 in a M36 or P Eagle cabinet.
The nearside signals overlap the farside intersection. They all come on green together, but stairstep back to red with the nearside changing first, and then the far side after a brief moment. The nearside cylce to red to keep backups at the farside intersection from stopping on the tracks. They never dwelled in green.
Not really necessary to have them anymore but they're still doing their thing until the county pulls the tracks for a trail which they've done for another line in northern Shelby Twp. Judging by the length of time these have been up I'd say they'll be up for a while yet.
