Don't you mean, it would have been all green with no black under the visors?

Great looking light. That's really going to look nice in fresh paint.

I was told that black under the visors started in the 60's. Your light pre dates that era, so depending on how original you want to restore the signal, the decision is yours.

Here's a pic of my "D" that was repainted close to the original color, without black under the visors. Just an option you can toss around.

Wow, that's a nice signal Mark! Not sure I'm keen on the green, leaning towards yellow. Interesting note on the black visor convention, did not know that. Perhaps all yellow is the way to go for me.

Old-Timer, no tag to be found but the housing has HL-6165 cast into it on the front, opposite the hinge.

The smiley lens has the outward-facing nubs for the tabs. Still has a bit of gunk on it 24 hours into "the bleaching"... I picked at it a bit and am gonna let it soak a few more hours while I (reluctantly) head to the gym.

More pictures to come later!

Got 'er pulled apart this afternoon, hope to get a quote for blasting and coating this week sometime. Most of the light came apart remarkably easy. I had 2 screws stick, both on the reflector bracket "catchers". I beat one and one beat me. :rob: Guess that one is getting powder coated as-is.

Also began cleaning up some of the odds and ends that came out of the signal. So far I've spent most of the afternoon on the terminal block. Amazing what a wire wheel and some hot soapy water can do.... I think it came out pretty good!

One terminal done for comparison:

The end result:

I love this style of terminal block. To me, it seems like something from 1892, not 1952.

Those lenses look like new, I'll have to try clorox the next time I have lenses to clean.
