Slightly off-topic(*) -
With everyone's "your name" now in their signature of all of their posts, are we (read: forum owners slash mods) going to disable search site indexing of the posts?
I ask because many, if not all, employers are now doing online checks of potential employees. I keep my online presence to a minimum (no Facebook, yada, yada) for this very reason.
For example, if I decided to submit my resume to Edibility as an ASP.NET developer, I don't want then to find sine of my earlier posts here where I didn't give the company a glowing review. (And even though old posts may not have my newer signature, they can easily do a search for my username to find older posts.)
And it's not limited to companies in the traffic control sector, either. Potential employer could see someone mention that they'll skip work to go to Signalaplooza (okay I can't spell it...!) and take that as a bad mark.
(Side note - yes employers do this. *I* do it for my current employer, and hsvr had to google people as far back as 2005 for my previous employer. Farther back a previous employer had a client that was a data warehousing company, and the company stored all references to names and websites, to sell to marketers. I won't give the company name here, PM me if interested.)
I digress, sorry. In, either case, I'll put a nickname, not my real name. If there's am issue with this, then I expect the ability to go back and edit all my posts fire any potentially harming information, or disabling search-engine boys from indexing.
I don't care if people here know my name - many do. I'm worried of the other people out there that may want to "get to know me", so to speak. :)
BTW, I don't know how I missed that requirement, since it was posted before I registered. For that, I apologize!
(*) Not really.
Sorry, this is a long one!
