You mean 630. Too bad the railroad crossing there doesn't have a Wig-Wag, but at least it has a mechanical bell!
EDIT: found the intersection on Google Maps, now where is the controller?

I am a railfan, signalfan, and I'm interested in tornado sirens. I hope to learn new things about traffic lights because I'm interested in them and don't know much about them.

This may be a dumb question, but shouldn't that 4-way be on an all-way red flash so some blind dummy doesn't try to make a right turn on the green without stopping and cross the track with a train en route?

I would think so. Ecspecially because there is no signal on the side of the tracks with the signal. Bet there are speed restrictions through there

Nateral selection :rotfl:

I never picked up on the 1st time but there's 2 modern diesel engines behind the steam loco in the pic. I recall watching a Big Boy on U-tube steaming down the track and it had 2 modern diesels in tow as well
Is this because there's no water towers every 100 miles of track for the boilers :panic:
Do ya think they get outa pic range and simply put the steam loco in neutral and the modern locos push the rest of the way?
I can't immagine the extra helpers are for pulling
Do ya think the steam engineer called in because he didn't think he could pull it
I'm thinking those steam locos could pull miles of cars, well maybe a mile of cars. I don't know but I'm under this immpretion they pulled many freight cars without the need for extra helpers in tow

Does anyone know what the record is for one steam engine pulling. Can 1 Big Boy pull a mile of cars, not just cars but a mile of loaded coal cars

They use the Diesels for Dynamic braking. I rode on one with Nickel Plate Road 765 4-8-4 around the horse shoe curve in Altoona and the CR & PRR heritage units where used as helpers with braking. And are you shore it wasn't the Challenger. UP did just purchase a Big Boy but its sitting in the parking lot of the museum its coming from.
