The p;ile of parts is scarey! when I used to take apart Jukebox Mechanisms to restore them I would always end up with a handful of hardware that I couldn't figure out where it came from or where it goes!

WOW, what a project??!! :clapping:

Wondering what brand/mfr that old switch is, and/or if its mechanism would be like that found (probably in a ceramic housing?) on a typical wall-mounted "light switch" of similar age??

I know I have a few antique wall switches rattling around, but the only one I can lay eyes on right now is a dual-pushbutton, nowhere close to that...I'll keep my eye out for others...!

Just the ability to disassemble that thing and to have ideas on how to fix it back to working order is amazing.... Most of us would've taken one look at it and said it was beyond repair.

Joe, you take restoration to the next level...very impressive!!

Power switch cleaned up nicely. A basic cleaning to get the crud of the ages off, 90 minutes in Griot's Rust Remover.

After:

It operates freely now. I may take a stab at re-lettering.

I noticed that on the back panel, the switch is exposed with no plastic housing around it. Do you think it has always been like this?

Just curious, will the exposed steel parts on the switch not start to rust quickly again, once reassembled, if not coated with something? I've never used Groit's Rust Remover.

In this poor blow up of a 1940 ad, it shows a cover over the lower third with the switch poking through. I think that I will be fabricating one. Not sure if it is flat or if it is bent back at the top. Bent back makes more sense to cover all the terminals.

That by far is the coolest switch I have ever seen.

Update: clock repair guy couldn't rebuild/remake the gears. I looking for plan "B". They work now but are worn to the point that they won't last long.
