Hi From LWVRR

This is the new member sandbox. Until you post a little something about yourself here, you don't get to play on the rest of the board. So tell us a little something about yourself and your signals.

Hi From LWVRR

Hi, I'm Scott aka (LWVRR) and I reside in the hard coal country of northeastern Pennsylvania...Wilkes-Barre to be exact. For the last 5 years I've been working on my project, The Laurel Line Project. What is that you might ask? Well basically I'm building a model railroad in the new V-scale (virtual scale). My subject is the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railroad's Laurel Line. It is being created in the train simulation program called Trainz. The Laurel Line was in operation between 1903 to 1952 and I'm trying to model the railroad as it looked in the 1950's. I thought this might be a good place to find new model material from the 1930's to the 1950's such as signs, traffic lights and street lights. For more info on my project please click on any links in my sig...there are plenty of pictures at each location.

It seems to be along the lines of The New York, Westchester and Boston Railway that came and went also...

:good:
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Hey, Scott. Welcome to the Forums. You just promted me to take a virtual Google road trip. Your mention of northeastern coal country and Wilkes-Barre sent me back to when my grandparents lived in Shamokin, Kulpmont, and Mt. Carmel, along with the stories about, and trips to, Centralia. Their one house on Treverton Road in Shamokin was right across the street from a convenience store that had railroad tracks running behind it. Good memories.

Peace!

For me, growing up in the 70's and spending my summers in the Wilkes-Barre area, It was like going back 20 years to the 1950's. So I too have good memories of this place. My parents are from this area and when they retired they move back to the area. I followed a few years later. Even though there is a lots of public corruption, good paying jobs are hard to find and crime is on the increase...it's still a nice place to live. This area also has a fascinating history.
