Hello from Gatineau

This is the new member sandbox. Until you post a little something about yourself here, you don't get to play on the rest of the board. So tell us a little something about yourself and your signals.

Here you go, a little dark though. (And sorry for the double-post).

Don't apologize for the double post. I just wanted to see what the face of the signal looked like. It looks as though that intersection is currently NOT an intersection?
Moderately inspirational message.

I guess you can say so. It's currently under construction, and set to be fully operational by Fall 2013. But the lights replaced all the railway signals as well, although the rail isn't used and is being re-built along with Rapibus.

More about Rapibus:

So question... why are they building dedicated bus lanes rather then a light rail or something... seems odd!

They seem to want to copy the City of Ottawa (across the river) which created their own BRT in the 1980s called the Transitway. However, the City of Ottawa is replacing the downtown portions with LRT (that goes under downtown). Ottawa also has the O-Train LRT that is useless, but uses the same rail that crosses the river and follows Rapibus. I think the Ville de Gatineau / STO just want to go with the cheapest option.

Ah... ok. Cause it seems they are sinking some major $ into it... not sure, but don't think there would be mush cost difference between paving and throwing down some light rail tracks... though I could be way wrong here!

They're spending about Can $200,000,000 on Rapibus.

Rapibus is 17 km at C$195,000,000

Whereas, Ottawa's new LRT is 12.5 km at C$2,100,000,000

So, I contacted the Ville de Gatineau (primarily to ask about purchasing old signals, they recommend trying local scrap yards). They say they use Électroméga and Tassimco (both from Montréal) for their signals.
