Another Light Post

Postby khardy on Sun Feb 10, 2013 6:29 pm

Hi Folks,

Home early from work this hitch. Trying to get what I can done on the CH 4-way D-type and CH single face DT before shipping off to New Zealand.

Weather in Houston is not good for trying to paint our lights so starting work on the post for the single faced DT light.

In the foreground is the post being cleaned up. In process of removing all the old paint. Notice the bottom is cut off. Base was severely damaged. The post base in the background is what it use to look like.

Another view of post.

Five inch schedule 80 pipe welded to flange. Welded this from scrap at work this last hitch to use as a new support and base for the broken post. Outer diameter of the post is 5-3/4 inches and fits snuggly in post.

Figure we would prepare this lamp post while waiting on the weather to improve. Once this is assembled, will start working on building new wiring harnesses.

Cheers!

Troy! You are distracting me..... You Can't have the Tractor! That was my grandfather's yard and garden 1964 John Deere 110 powered with a cast iron 8hp Kohler engine. Use to ride on it when I was 8 years old. Haven't started it in about 4 years since the battery went dead. One of those projects on the back burner for now.

..... and back to the project at hand......

Primer painted two of the posts we have. Used Rust-oleum Clean Metal Primer which is oilbased.

Those posts are looking good, there gonna look sweet. I like that style of post they have more detail than the plain strait pipe.
On my journeys today I'm going to try and scare up a sprayer like that.
