The ped signals were offered in three styles, Horizontal, Double Horizontal, and Square. Square are like the modern ped signals in size. These signals are heavy cast. Accessory condulets bolted to the top and bottom to mount with. These seem to share a common casting with the early Econolite neons. CH only offered the peds in a "dull black paint." Seems to have only been sold from the late 1940's to the early 1960's.

The WALK tube was available in two colors...red if the background of the WALK section was black, green if the WALK section was painted white.

OH MAN! That is cool stuff!

One note regarding the green arrows. In cold weather, it takes a while for the green to warm up and brighten, which probably was not too practical in the winter months and is likely why they did not catch on.

Randy, your collection of CH neon is just     !!!! Yes, Larry, you are correct. The mold to the early Econolite peds is very similar. I will shoot some pics and post the Econolite head.

Steve, I did notice that about the green. In the winter when my basement was cold the walk would brighten slowly. Not exactly the kind of qualities you want in a ped signal.

Excellent preserved example of a double horizontal signal.

Ian, thanks for posting the pictures of the sister to my no left turn. I really hope to see one of those pop up in the near future.
