Postby coyttl on Sat Mar 30, 2013 6:45 pm

Hey all -
Restoring a light, and need 6 of these. I'm sure I can get them from Grainer of McMaster.. but.. I have no idea what the heck they're called.

Anyone know what it's called?

Where is it located on "The Signal"???

Tried this, and got .. well, a lot of hits, with only a few metal pieces that resembled this, and not very well. (i.e. Items that wouldn't fit in the bottom of the case.)

As a side note, there are mote 'strainers' in plumbing terminology than I ever realized.

I'm not sure why they'd have six of them in the bottom of a 'No Right Turn' signal. :Wink2:

It really does not make sense why they'd want to strain or catch what (if anything) was draining out of the signal. They were probably for ventilation/cooling and keeping the pests out. Try "vent cap" or "vent plug" or something like that.

Well, it's a 30x36in fiber sign, about .. uhm.. 6 inches deep. The vents/drains were on the bottom, so I don't think they were for air (especially since this model has the wire entrance *at the bottom*, which means no air flow, the transformers were *cooked*. I figured they were for water, but maybe the sign was just made upside down. :)
