I actually picked the mail box up at auction which came with a concrete obelisk (post) that stands about 6-8 feet tall. The concrete post I have has a mounting bracket on it and is stamped 1945 on the top and another bracket came on the back of the box itself so I have 2 mounting brackets. As far as the lock  I guess your right I really don't need to lock it. There's a bunch of lighter theifs around here :panic: but haven't run across any receipt theifs yet.
I've had my sights set on one for a while but didn't want to go broke buying one. I love using it and it's a really neat piece, I'll have to get some pics of it for show and tell

Very exciting to hear that you got a mailbox WITH concrete post, Vaughn! Seems like only yesterday a bunch of them were still scattered around...but I haven't seen one in years.

Six to eight feet high?? Wow, yeah, I guess they needed to be sunk fairly deep to be stable.
