Did they mark the castings or anything that would identify the actual year produced? I will start taking this apart in the next few days.

Thanks,

36-50 and they arent dated. you just have to guess. Early D's had Large beads and one hook hanger on the real early ones. then they switched to small beads with tab indents. then later ones had two bump outs for the tabs on the lenses. The hangers were switched from 1 hole to 4 hole on the early Ds

What is the correct color for the inside of the visor's??

Green or whatever the signal was painted. Black under the visors wasnt until the mid 60s

Got everything cleaned up, and ready for paint!! Multiple layer's of paint, were not exactly fun to remove.

I do have a question about the end pieces, which piece goes on top? This signal had the top piece in the picture on top, and the other was obviously on the bottom. Both of the DT's that I have are put together opposite of this one, which is correct?

Thanks,

you have mis matched end plates. Put the top one in the picture on the bottom

That's the way that my DT's are put together. One difference I notice is that the D's bottom piece (as you suggest) has 2 rivot's on it, I assume this is for an ID tag. There is no evidence that a tag was ever on this signal.

I wonder why this D was put together backwards, check out the picture and you will see what I mean.

The paint on the visor's finally dried, so I was able to get it all put back together. This was a lot of work, but the end result was worth it!! It's not perfect, but it didn't turn out too bad IMO.
