Lets start with the old...
8-inch Econolite signal that I bought off Malcolm back at OSM 2011. I ended up taking it to our very own Jay at this past OSM to have him sandblast it, which ended up evolving to a restoration job. For those of you that live in the Columbus area or have ever driven through the Easton Town Center area, it will become apparent why this color scheme was chosen. Even though the signals in that area are 12" and don't have a disconnect box, that is the color scheme I was going for. I robbed the box off another one of my signals so this one can run on a sequencer. Once the weather becomes more conducive to painting, the box will be painted blue to match the rest of the signal. And the new grab...
I won this off eBay a couple of weeks ago (which I had already announced) and Jay ran and got it for me. I had wanted an Akron signal since I started going to school there. I tried going through the city once, but they weren't willing to part with their old equipment. Apparently they had an auction some time ago because a lot of Akron stuff has been popping up. But I digress. Anyway, the signal is in great shape; I had to fix the bottom bracket, but that was about it. All of the glass (including the reflectors!) is unbroken, and there's even a green smiley lens! The disconnect hanger is one that Jay had lying around, but made the cluster all the more Akron-like. Plus I may decide to put a sequencer in it. I do not plan on breaking up this happy trio, and I plan on keeping it in its off-street condition. Photos:
