Looking at the color and age of the bell, They may not be as abandoned as you think..........

Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

I think that at least some traffic goes through there. I noticed some things (like storage tanks and such) on the other side of the gate.
I am a railfan, signalfan, and I'm interested in tornado sirens. I hope to learn new things about traffic lights because I'm interested in them and don't know much about them.

The danger sign on the fence also looks nice and new too!

I wouldn't be surprised if it still gets use. They probably turn it off on the weekends and over the holidays. I've noticed that they set the traffic lights around Redstone Arsenal to the flash mode on those times.

Another form of abandonment is just leaving it on the ground :Phil:

The library on one side of this street moved, so the crosswalk beacons were removed. Well, one was. The other is just sitting on the sidewalk, and will be for who knows how long.

So where would the law stand on a civilian moving or touching or looking at a light in that situation? Being left to rot on the ground implies it's not worth much, but solar panels aren't cheap, so it could also be awaiting pickup from a contractor..?

I drive through this area on almost a daily basis for my job and had totally forgotten about this one. I have to put my phone away when I'm on the bus so no pics but I cannot tell what the deal is with this. It's been like this for as long as I can remember and there are loops cut into the road so it looks like they started to install signals here and never finished. There are even wires pulled through the openings in the horizontal poles but they look like they never saw a signal head. I wish I had a key to open the cabinet up and see what (if anything) is inside.

My guess is that they intended to cut a road between Hwy 8 and 19th, but never did. Mast arms look like they might date from the '80s or '90s. Flange looks like the older small size that WSDOT used through the mid '90s up here.
