For Tacoma, the signal shop is separate. I think most are separate from engineering and the rest of the government offices. I think many are part of the muni roads, with patch crews and everyone with trucks and big equipment. Usually outside of the core of town.

Finally connected with the traffic engineer and got the inside scoop on the local traffic scene. I have noticed a total disregard for ped indications by everyone here. If I get more time this week, I'll try to get by the signal shop.

Somehow I missed this. Joe - you coming down to the DC area?

I hope you enjoyed your visit. I'm sorry I didnt know, but I would have tried to get together with you? I havent been on the STF for awhile because I just bought a house and have been totally preocupied with the renovation and moving. Philly's signal shop is in North Philly near Hunting Park and G streets - if you can get in its quite a scene. They still build and rebuild CH PCEs and cabinets there, as the city is mostly Electro-mechanical.

I was in Philly for a week downtown, walking distance to the history of 200 years ago. I did see that the cracked bell was in Tacoma in 1915 during its last tour of the country. In a week we didn't see it all. We got out to the Amish country and slipped into Hershey to see the streetlights that looked like kisses. Spent some time in Valley Forge on our last day. Fall leaves were looking great.
