Can we add the term "how much is it worth" to the auto banned words list??? Please? This board isn't Pawn Stars.....

These are the emotions I go thru every time I see someone under 10 posts ask "what is it worth?"

You guys gotta cut the new members some slack. :blackeye:

It does bug me when I see a new member ask " how much is it worth ", but I think that we all want to know the age, and value of something cool that we have acquired if it is something that we do not normally collect. The only bad thing is that a certain item may have a different value to each one of us. :blink:

I recently past up a beacon because the guy saw one sell on ebay for $750 so my offer of $450 was to low. I told him that $450 was the highest price that I would pay because that's what it was worth to me. :grin:

The next time that a member asks " what is it worth " step up, and tell him what you think it's worth. :yes:

After he or she see's that everyone put's a different value on the item he or she will get the idea. :good:

Ok, my new estimated values will all be $56.42

I kinda like this game.

I understand new people want to know what they have, but you know we've had more then one newbie come in and say, what's it worth, then all the sudden it's on eBay for that amount, or in the FS section. I'm just kinda tired of this place, that we all call "home" being an Appraisal house for people.

I agree with you, but how would you suggest on weeding out the people with a true interest in the hobby, and the people who join just to find out the value of what they have? :scratch:

Isn't that the point of the club?

I mean, if I find a painting from the 1800's, I'll take it to an Art Appraiser, or an Art Club, or Art Auctioneers. i.e. - I take it to people that know art. Same thing with an automobile. I'll take pictures and post on an automotive forum, asking for opinions.

Yeah, it gets old from OUR side of things, seeing the same question asked over and over, but for them, it's the ONLY question!
