It's not going to be long outages.... unless it ends up a complete line by line database rebuild.... but I don't think that's the case....

Were talking a few 12-24 hr periods that the board might be hard to get to. For the tech savvy, the board will only be down for minutes on the first outage, as long as you flush your dns when the server ip changes... (Comcast users, sorry, you can't force a flush-dns.... you have to power-cycle your modem/router)

Upgrading and debugging the forum software... yea, this is where things could go :Poof: , but the new server will have live backups, so these would be minimal outages again if I catch things right away.

I think we might have a formal announcement coming soon, this is Ed's baby, so when he's ready, everyone will be well warned! Ed and myself planed these things to happen in October for a few months... cause both of our schedules have looked like :rob:

Hmmm... I've never had to powercycle my FiOS ONT (Optical Network Terminal).... though I did have to powercycle the stores comcast box today... then I found out comcast had a rookie wiring up a new tenant next store... thanks newbie!

Yeah, the coax between the node two sections over and my block is a little old and decrepit. FiOS stole a LOT of people from Comcast around here.
