They look very British with black backing boards and white borders, of course that being the standard in the UK.

The idea of black on colour arrows is simply that it lets more light through from the more important colours. We have had several Siemens Helios heads fitted with them by an engineer in his garden, following on from a discussion at the annual JCT Signals symposium convention.

Your collection is impressive & the discussion interesting. I would just like to know if there are any American companies selling their LED traffic signals in Germany. I always have wondered if Germans preferred German brands when it came to purchasing/installing signals.
