Joined this forum because I just acquired a Duncan Parking meter (Model 60, I think). No keys, and I'm trying to figure out how to gain access to take it apart. Locks are 4 pin, but the pins are positioned on the sides rather than vertically. Odd. Would like to avoid drilling them out, but am not opposed to it.

Read this entry, but I'm still not figuring it out: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/s ... clnk&gl=us

OTHER INTERESTS:
I am also interested in hot rods, signage, gas pumps, etc...

I own a standard yellow 3 light signal that I'm in the process of adding a controller to. Someone put "donuts" in the base of the bulbs and it flashes randomly right now.

Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I decided to go out to the garage and give it another go. While picking the service lock I found the lock had a wafer out of sorts so I figured what the heck and decided to pull the lock cover off and drill it. Had it drilled out in seconds and open. So I decided to do the same to the coin lock.

The meter has the bubble top/ lenses so I'm pretty sure it's a Duncan model 60.

Paid $7 for the meter (with a pole) and recovered $3.30 from the coin cup. I think I did all right on this one. :-)

I'll look into getting a couple cabinet locks from Lowe's or just put the drilled ones back in and put the lock covers back on to hide the carnage.

Thanks again for the welcome and quick reply.

Hey Mike,

Yeah, those donuts have to go.

Thanks for the link to the T3. That's a good price on that. Looks like I'll be picking one of those up.

Thanks!

Hi there Brandon. Interesting that you found us while searching for parking meters.

Part of what I find fun with meters is picking the locks. Alas, even though wafer locks in general aren't hard to pick, I've yet to find a 60 double wafer that I can get through. :rob:

What kind of signage are you interested in?

Oh yeah... WELCOME!

Hi Ed,

Yeah I'm no stranger to picking locks, but those wafers on that Duncan had me going. I hate to drill them, but sometimes ya gotta swallow your pride and just do what needs done.

As far as signs go, I'm basically a total sign nerd. I do hand carved wood signs and am always picking something up (porcelain, neon, wood, etc...) or taking pictures of stuff I see when I'm out. No real focus. I just go with it if I like it or it inspires me.

Here's a little sample of some of my work: http://ardoria.com/signs/signs.htm (none for sale, just for show on that site).

Thanks for the welcome.
