I had some pictures of old worded peds I'd found on the web saved somewhere - they must be on my home PC as I can't find them on my MacBook at the minute.

I did find this, however, which shows the arrangements well. Click onto Mikey's Flickr - he's got lots of good old fashioned pics and scans from over here!

traffictechgreg wrote:I know that overseas the symbols / Man & Man ped signals rule the roost. However some countries had / have worded ped signals. Here are the few that I know of... Can anyone add any other places to this list????

Mexico - PASE (Walk) / NO PASE (dont walk)
Italy AVANTI (Walk) / ALT (Dont Walk)

I am aware of only the Italian version. Below, is a really nice example of an old Italian pedestrian signal (looks like it is neon to me) that uses those signal indications of "AVANTI" and "ALT."

Inside the old traffic light "ALT / AVANTI" there were simple light bulbs, no neon. In the 60s and 70s it was "CGE"the most widespread brand of italian signal "ALT / AVANTI" . It 'hard to say which brand was one of the photo. Probably SSS, but I do not know for sure.
