Painting plastic

Postby busman_49 on Tue Nov 11, 2008 9:06 pm

Good idea, or no? I have a poly that I put together from spare parts that's currently 3 different shades of yellow. I was thinking Krylon Fusion to paint it, but I don't know how well it'd work (or how good it'd look).

Ryan,

I used fusion to paint a CH poly once and it came out great...Dried really fast and the signal looked like new.

I've used Krylon Fusion in the past for painting a sig and it worked great. As with any paint job, prep is key. Properly clean and degrease everything prior to paint.

Good luck!

Any pointers on prepping? And how cold is too cold to paint? (yeah, I'm pretty much certain I'll be waiting till spring :banghead: )

I'd clean it good, use a flat spray as a primer, then shoot it normally. Is your garage heated? You can spray coats outside, if it's not snow/raining, then run them back into the heat. All cold does is knock off the gloss, hence running it quickly into the house. Expect longer dry times and "thinner" paint. Keep the spraycan warm.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, "A Columbus, Ohio man is recovering from injuries sustained in what his wife calls a tragic yet avoidable freak accident. A full recovery is expected once the traffic signal is removed from his colon..."
