Dialight Integrated Traffic Signal Head

Postby EPAC-EPIC-MARC on Wed Jul 10, 2013 10:39 am

You may recall the lengthy thread about Dialight coming up with their own traffic signal head...with visors and housings, and the LEDs integrated into the signal. This isn't like the Dialight modules that fit into other manufacturer's housings.

I have finally received the official quote and ordered one. It will be here in 6-8 weeks. Between Dialight and Carrier and Gable I've had many phone calls and emails and have had great service at both. Dialight admittedly told me that the signal has taken way longer to get from engineering, to validation, to market than they wanted it to. The one I get will be part of the first production run of these signals

The signal I ordered will be all federal yellow with yellow tunnel visors (visors cost extra!), R Y G colored ball lenses, and the total price is a little higher than I was initially quoted.

Once here, I can elaborate more on it and take some pictures, for now here is the PDF brochure on it: http://www.dialight.com/Assets/Brochure ... ETS001.pdf

I have a much longer specification document on my home computer I'll try and upload later.

Total is over $500. The head and visors are separate prices plus taxes etc.

Hope to have it by early September

Keep in mind for everyone else -
Distributors have the right to price things on their own - your area's distrib. may quote you a different price - higher OR lower!

Actually C&G told me that pricing and availability was on Dialights end. They had to wait for the word from them. The price was higher than initially quoted. My initial quote was roughly $100 per section...excluding visors and tax. I'm thinking the distributors get a cut of the pie which contributes to the added cost.

yeah, pricing models differ for every manufacturer. It may be the same, but it may just as well not. So I mentioned that in case someone calls THEIR distributor and is quoted $750+ and comes here, bitching to you.

It's like car dealerships - you can haggle if you want, to get the price down, but you'll likely find small price differences from distributor to distributor. :)

(For example, there's two Pelco dealers in VA that serve my area. One is about 15% cheaper than the other, WITH shipping included. D'oh!)

I was curious about the price difference from initial quote to finalized quote. I shot them an email to see what it was about. I am just curious at the difference...still going through to purchasing whether the price is this or not

Pricing differences between manufacturers make sense for similar type equipment. Hard to tell with something like this being so new to the market...right now. Seems like its priced competitively with traditional LED signal heads.
