Remember it?

Postby steven1981 on Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:04 pm

Some of you might remember this, but when I was young, my father's friend had this miniature traffic signal, in which was attached to an ordinary pull chain for a ceiling fan/light fixture. At night, the signal indications glowed, and something about their illumination always caught my attention and made me stare in amazement.

Manufactured by the Novelty Cord and Tassel Inc. in Brooklyn, N.Y. sometime in the 1960s (?), this piece is quite a popular item amongst collectors today, and it is definitely a blast from the past.

I've seen quite a few of those on Ebay. Normally they go for about $30 which seems a lot to me. I did, however manage to find one for a lot less Now all I have to do is figure out where I'm going to hang it.
I'm so old I remember when the word "mother" only had one meaning!!!

When I was in kindergarten in 1977, my parents gave one to me. I played with it so much, the red and green plastic fell apart and fell out of the glow-in-the-dark housing. One day, I was playing at my friend's house. His mom knew that I liked traffic lights and that mine was falling apart. She gave their pull to me. I still have it 36 years later.
Peace!

had one of those years ago when I was younger. Not sure where it is now! I will have to start looking as this has gained my curiosity!

Bump, I was at a pawn shop I frequent with a friend and noticed one of these attached to a light fixture on a table in a corner. The guy said if I could get it off, I could take it. Did just that. :good:

The build is a bit cheaper than I anticipated, but it's awesome to finally own one.
