My Kennedy branded single-section has a socket like that.

It could be. The credits do mention a Special Thanks to "Eagle TCS/Siemans Energy".

The thing I thought strange was the credit to "SiemAns Energy...a typo on the part of the show's production staff, or was (now) Siemens once spelled that way during the progression of company name changes/buyouts/etc?

THANKS JoeC for the links, anyway!! Fun trip back in time...I too watched Mr. Rogers while a child (closer to the 2nd of your links than the signal factory episode, I'm afraid) and had sorta forgotten that he always had that traffic signal on his set. Hmmm...now, one more legit 'childhood influence' which I could blame now, for my current "collecting affliction"...?? :rotfl:

Thats cause Kennedy is Eagle, just a different casting foundry. That socket design was used on the DuraSig, Mark IV and LFE polys that Eagle/Siemens produced.

Its a typo. Eagle Signal/Automatic Signal Corp was bought by Siemens in 1997. The actual Siemens corporation was around prior to them acquiring Eagle.

That was fun to watch. I remember, as most of you do, watching Mr. Rogers as a child. I forgot all about that light on his set too.

What's with all the quotes in everyone's signatures?

Seriously? After "assembly" they put each signal on a test fixture to see if it lights up :Phil:

Both links ('68 and modern) show an Econolite(?) signal on the wall. Didn't it change over the years, at one point he has a deco?

I watched that show religiously too growing up. I never really liked Mr. McFeeley or Lady Elaine though, they creeped me out for some reason.

Watching the assembly video: When Mr. Rogers starts turning on and off the various colors on his signal, the whole "brick" pillar the light is mounted on wiggles. :this:

Cool vids! :good:

They could only pick one QA control test. This...or corrosion resistance....

I thought so too!!

There is a photo showing him and the entire deco, but I can't find it. If you look closely in this photo at the edges of the signal it is clearly an art deco.

I'm a huge fan of the Mark IV's. I don't know why, but they just draw my full attention (the 12" sections anyway). I love the rounded back and all of that. I don't know, it's just oddly awesome.
