Pedestrian signals in your areas

Postby signal-in-the-box on Mon Apr 15, 2013 7:38 pm

New to the poll making. Sorry if this doesn't work well.

SELECT ONE CHOICE FROM EACH CATEGORY.
Select 1 of the 3 'size' options
Select 1 of the 4 'lenses' options
Select 1 of the 2 'preference' options
You should have made 3 votes, one in each category, which is labeled in parenthesise at the beginning of each option.
(This will make the percentages off. Just look at the numbers in the results.)

Answer based on what is on your area currently.

Around me there are mostly 12" signals and a few 16". There are no 9".
All of both types are LED with countdowns, except for 1 single 12" incandescent symbol pair. (Until around 2010 I think, they were all worded incandescent signals of both 9" and 12", with a few with symbols. There were no 16" signals then.)
The 12" signals are from an (oddly?) large variety of brands, including McCain, Siemens, Mark IV (Eagle), Eagle Durasig, TCT, CH, Peek, Fortran, Econolite, and more. All 16" signals are Siemens.

I'm lucky to live in a not-very-major place with pedestrian signals at almost every intersection in town. I much prefer the 12" signals, because I think they look better, and I think the functionality of the multiple sections is more useful.

Used to be all black DuraSigs here...nowadays we have primarily poly (and aluminum for earlier upgrades) Siemens 16 inch and some places used poly McCain 16 inch with countdowns and stubby visors. Peds are standard black in these parts.

We did have one side-by-side incandescent 16 inch signal (assume ICC) in the area with an egg crate louver. They were all pulled out and replaced with Siemens countdowns.

What about 9" peds?

We have 72 9" peds in town, not counting the four on the way to OSM, but you have to consider the code I suppose.

I voted again. All of downtown main street in Middletown are 16 inch with incandescent man/hand. Only like 3 heads have leds and that's because they were hit by a vehicle and were replaced with a man/hand led no countdown.

Hope I voted correctly. Everything in LR is 16" LED now, with or without countdowns, (all NOT necessarily depending on the actual existence of crosswalks, but whatever... :Phil: ) in the oh-so-typical ICC-style housings. :bored:

If there are any old "survivors" still existing, I just haven't found 'em yet...

It wouldn't let me vote.. too many options checked! We've got everything here though mostly 16" LED countdown and non-countdown.

I don't know  I'd rather vote if this were a poll from Florida. I'd rather have the oppertunity to vote a few times and have delayed results.
