WELL OK, now that we've gotten all my name-confusion outta the way...
Meanwhiles, (as predicted) I've been playing with the Kentron, toward some reasonably good results!
First order of business was to find out why the controller seemed to like to 'hang' on
MainSt every so often. (read: whenever I
wasn't actually standing over it watching, mostly) Eventually tracked that down to one of the (about 6) camswitches that cycle by during that phase -- cleaned those contacts just a bit and it's been running like a champ ever since!
I might need to give the same contact treatment to CrossSt too, sooner or later, but since I've only got the one signal hooked up at the moment, moving it to the MainSt outputs solved that problem... |
Next order of business was sorting out the time switch wires. When I got this controller/panel originally, the timer (and relays and flasher) were removed from the panel and packed separately

but there wasn't any clue included as to how to hook the (3) matching black wires for the timer back up to its (6!) screw terminals.

My first guess (back then) proved instantly wrong the first time I plugged it in/turned it on
and my 2nd guess solved
that issue, but the timer still didn't do anything
at all.
Looking at it all again now led me to try a 3rd combination of wires to terminals -- when this also didn't result in any smoke, it became a matter of time (literally!) to eventually determine that
something was apparently moving back inside there (it has a plastic cover, which prevents being able to see internal gears/etc) and sure enough, the manual trip-levers kicked the panel into/outta "flash mode" too!

And sooner or later (mostly later...watching this timer is like watching grass grow!) I finally got to watch it kick itself into (and out of) flash, ALL BY ITSELF!!
I've added a handful of pics of the backpanel and etc to my Kentron album -- still to come will be more pics of the insides of the controller itself and all its camswitches, relays, and other various fun little bits of "electronic obsolescence"!
