GE GTx in the Wild

Postby 3Mfanatic on Sat Sep 21, 2013 8:55 pm

ODOT revamped these two intersections recently with brand new black McCains and what I believe to be the snazzy new GE GTx modules. I have to say, I really like them.

The 'fracturing' is far more noticeable at an angle but I'm gonna snipe Jeff's (EagleSignalFan) pic of the back of a GTx housing that shows the lines correspond with these bars on the rear outside of the module.

They do look sharp. I just wish it was an American company.

Those GTx modules are showing up here in the Dayton area too. I'm liking them.

I took pictures of the GTx modules I bought new. None of the ones in service here show that 'crack' when viewed at an angle, however. Mine don't either, strangely.

GTx modules are showing up in my hometown on the north side of Columbus, OH. They definitely are different. Here in Rhode Island I've been seeing mainly the old Leotek modules with the little dots. I don't know what they're called (not an expert on LED modules)

Rhode Island uses mostly Cooper LED modules which explains why most of them are missing more than 50% of their diodes. :Phil:

Yeah, RI is definitely Cooper. More of those kinda are actually being replaced in this area by an incandescent-look LED. Unfortunately, IDK my LED types, so I'm not gonna take a guess at what they are. :dizzy:

Yep, those are GTx modules. Some of the towns in my area are beginning to use those in both new installations and retrofits.
