Removing stubborn rings

Postby cjsebes on Sat Jul 20, 2013 2:35 pm

What are you guys using to remove stubborn, rusty rings. You know, the ones that hold the signal sections together? Pliers don't seem to expand wide enough and it's tough to get a larger wrench into there.

Peace!

7/16" socket or box/open end wrench.
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

I can't remember ever having one that didn't come off with a socket/wrench. Usually I use a deep-drive socket though.

This is actually what I was referring to when I was mentioned the rusty rings. Sorry I wasn't clear.

I don't want you think that I'm that much of an idiot for not knowing how to get bolts out of there. (There's other stuff you can think of me as an idiot for, but that's another time.) With some persuasion and elbow grease I was able to get this off. It was only holding two of the sections together.

I have more about this signal in another post and some questions. This project has been kind of a "If signals could talk" where I'm uncovering mysteries about what I have here.
