EPIC was the primary controller used in Michigan for years. EPAC seen limited use for actuated or more complex control. The trend is going to EPAC and other powerful controllers because the intersections are getting much more complex now with detection, etc. Its neat that all the official MDOT timing sheets have a checkbox for controller used...EPIC/EF140, EPAC, or "Other"

The processor and/or powersupply kicked the bucket in mine.
The EPIC's with EF140 connectors (one small, one large) are not NEMA interchangable, because they don't follow the NEMA "A" "B" "C" protocol. Eagle made a version of the EPIC with "A" and "B" NEMA connectors that did follow protocol. Another member and myself rigged up EPIC firmware to run inside an EPAC300 controller and to my surprise the EPIC pinouts matched up, even though the I/O circuit board wasn't exactly the same.
