Econolite D-2000 in service

EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

Econolite D-2000 in service

Postby TacomaJoe on Wed Mar 21, 2012 1:23 pm

I'm sure this one has been posted by me before but I had the opportunity to stop by again. This cabinet is at the intersection of Regents & Electron in Fircrest WA. Close enough from our shop that I could just about throw a rock to it. They have an issue with right turn vehicles putting in a call and stopping the flow of traffic. Looks like an easy fix to drop in a loop detector with timing features and we're in business.

It's a nice compact cabinet with the works.

And a spare detector in case one fails

We keep some D-2000 parts around the shopto help our neighbor in times of need.

I'll send them a newer detector to trade for that spare TransSensor unit!

Loop detector with a delay will work well. However one time I had a wierd problem with a delay loop and the phase gapping out too quick, it turned out the "green defeat" lead was not tied to the phase green!

Thats what a good preventive maintenance program can do! One township that we just go who shall remain
nameless ;) has plenty of Econolite TS 2 cabnets less than 10 years which have the appearance inside of being unearthed from an archealogical dig!

Look at those boat anchors crushing that top shelf. Love those 1980's green on white loop detectors, have one myself

Ahhh!It even looks good with an Econolite EMC-2000 NEMA controller.I've seen that same style cabinet with a different 6 channel NEMA backpanel and a vintage Econolite 6 channel CMU.

Update: got a call from the city of Fircrest because the cabinet quit putting out a red. Being a manager, I don't get to fix signals now and sent out one of the techs. He was suprised to find that the signal would continue to run while he swapped the bum loadswitch.

Those conflict monitors don't look for red failure (dark signals) only looks for conflicts. New loadswitch and they are back in business. I want to talk them out of the cabinet if they ever upgrade the signal.
