Summer 2013 projects

Postby Easy on Sat Sep 28, 2013 6:07 pm

The mornings are getting kind of chilly out here in Southern California...you can tell that it will be getting cold ( 60 degrees ) real soon. I didn't get much restoring done this summer, as a mater of fact all I restored was a Darley beacon. I did mange to start restoring 5 beacons, but I didn't get very far with any of them.

I know that Keith, and Chris did a bunch of top notch restores this summer. Did any of you get anything done this summer?

Nothing here. Still have a bunch of cans of Hosta Leaf Green for the Econo repaint project from 2009. Never really had nice painting weather. Was always too muggy when it was warm.

Finished the Darley 4-way but having a lot of difficulty with a cast iron mailbox resto. Could have American Restoration do it but it would cost over 1k with shipping and they don't restore with original type bolts etc!

Nothing restored but the Essco had/has some broken off brass screws where the various lens tabs go. I've been slowly removing those one at a time, cleaning out the threads and putting new screws back in.
Some other little projects and a couple I've decided to leave in their present state, but that's all.

Cheers!

I got rid of several signals, but I did take on a nice Marbelite that I found unexpectedly at a yard sale. Only after I got it home did I realize that I had all the matching parts to make a nice two-way with mixed visors. Both heads are matching-generation flat tops. I brush painted everything, with satisfactory results.

I managed to get a couple of signals restored this summer. If you missed my threads on them here they are again.

Did this Singer 12" with the down light earlier this summer

Just finished this Detroit Marb up a couple of weeks ago.

I've also spent a lot of time making up ped bracket assemblies for my main intersection, and starting the running of loop detection wiring also. Painting has begun on the ped setups, I hope to have those back together and mounted by this next weekend. Pics to follow once they are all complete.
