Once LarryC39 posted the perfect "purloined" pic of an extracted Ruleta finial, where I didn't see any evidence of an EdT. retaining pin device, then I was more willing to use some extra force and lots of wishing. I am overly cautious no doubt, but I make the time to try to avoid screwing up something I just don't understand. Again, thanks all! PS: The top and finial are currently being "de-painted" and I already know, that at least on this finial, some of the threads are sharp - so be careful out there.

Congrats on the almost successful removal. My only lament is that you obviously sheared an irreplaceable Ruleta retaining pin. :glare:

With all the new blood on that retaining pin, I expect it will grow back together - assuming the pin and I are the same blood type - or not.
