Possible PLESSEY restore clueless!!!

Ok everybody I am new here and have recently become intrigued at trying my hand at restoring a signal. I have bought a couple of signals the past few months. Ending up selling the first one a older Crouse (was just to big for me) and now I have stumbled across a Plessey I am considering restoring. I honestly have very little experience with signals but love restoring other things and consider myself to be pretty handy. Anybody have any experience with these or would have any reason to believe it would not be a good beginner project? I would hate to mess up something that is rare or something someone else would appreciate more than myself. Does not seem to be much out there that I can find about these other than the basics where it came from, approx age ect. I have no idea if they are very collectible or very common. If they are sought after or is not a good fit for a beginner project I guess I will move it along to someone who needs it more than me and keep looking for something else. I have enjoyed reading through the forums and seems to be lots of very knowledgeable people floating around here.

First thing you need to do is take your time tearing it apart. Try and find the original color under all the paint. That light is thin and I wouldnt have it blasted unless you know someone that is good and wont warp it. I would use zip strip or what I prefer is aircraft stripper. It is nasty but will cut through all the paint. Get it all cleaned up. primer and paint it. and reassemble. For cork gaskets and socket rewiring Gordan on here does a damn good job and if your visors are bent or need replaced. Steve on here can reroll the of make you damn nice replacements. Try and salvage all the bolts and if there brass some guys,like myself like to polish them.

If his visors are like mine, they are thick and should not need re-rolling. I'm not even sure if that would work, mine are pretty thick.

And Plessey's don't use cork gaskets. It shoudl be an easy first restore. The proper color scheme would be white endcaps, black body, with the amber section painted white.

Pretty much. I have ONE out of four(?) that had a yellow band for the amber.
