So the bell is not attached/screwed onto the hanger in any way? I want to make sure before I try to loosen the bell from the hanger.

The bell slid down about 1/4 of an inch, but it seems like the rust on the pipe inside the bell hanger will not let it slide down any further. Any ideas?

Yes if I can remember, the hanger itself has to be unscrewed and the bell should pull up over the pipe where the hanger. The hex nut sits in a recess in the bottom of the bell.

Should slide down a little further until the nut hits the inside of the bell. This was mine:

I tried to leave enough in the hanger to grip and un-screw it but ended up cutting it out. Made a new 1 1/4 pipe stem and bought new mallable nuts.

The bell slipped down all the way to the nut. :clapping: I'm going to cut off the pipe tomorrow. I'll post pictures as I go along. :hello: who knows all this info might help someone else.

The bell seems to collect enough moisture to create the best enviroment for rust. All of them that I've seen have been masses of rust.

I would have thought that very little water or moisture would get in because of the bell. In fact I thought that the hanger was going to come right off without any problems.

I'm glad that this was the only place that rust was a problem. All the other screws came off without a problem. :clapping:

I'm with Troy. I have 5 signals  but if I counted every sec. I'd have 32 signals or individual lights. Do crappy plastic lens count?
