More photos.

Three coats primer paint on parts and other items. These will sit until tomorrow and the other side of all parts will be primered. The heat of the day, 90+ will help with setting the primer.

Yes Phil,

Over the last five years, the backyard has been getting somewhat full. We keep building on or finding cool stuff to turn into yard ornaments. Starting to run out of room in the yard for working on larger projects. Two more years till the last child is out of highschool and off to the countryside we go....

Hiya Folks,

We have finished with most of the primer painting on parts. Have a couple of odds and ends which will be attended to within the next few days.

Sondra has been cleaning the reflectors and frames. The reflectors will need the backs repainted. Some of the type "D" frames have some corrosion due to these units sitting for years in the junk lot facing skyward collecting rain water.

All the door levers have been dismantled and cleaned. Some of these levers were very stubborn to remove. Some where able to free up after soaking in LPS and others I had to use a torch and apply heat to free.

All the lense clips have been cleaned.

Will probably take a couple more days to clean up all the rest of the hardware. Most of the brass screws that were removed have been salvaged, wire wheeled and polished for reuse.

Depending on the weather and what other activites pop up, will try to paint the Hunter Green on the parts this weekend.

More to follow......

Cheers!

Hi Folks,

Had some doubts about four of the rods used for holding the housings together. While at Home Depot picking up some items for Sondra's project, I actually found some 3/8 inch unthreaded stock. Below are photos.

Image

Had to use a torch to loosen the cap nuts from these rods. The ends of the rods just about broke when I originally tried to remove the nuts.

Some new rods next to the corroded originals.

Here are four new rods cut down to size and threaded at each end.

Cheers!

Hi AJ,

That green rattle can paint was left over from another project we did recently. Have found the "Hammered" paint is good for those items that do not have a perfect and irregular surface. The playground animal springs and bases were sand blasted with mixed results. There is some pitting on the flat surfaces from rust scale removal. The hammered paint hides those imperfections. Besides, these will be more stuff to trip over in the yard. Glad Sondra mows the yard and not me....

Cheers!
